Teach academic English online
Help Chinese students at universities abroad develop the English they need for their courses, assignments and seminars. Yoren recruits English language teachers for part-time, freelance online sessions.
Who we’re looking for
English language teachers with native-level English and experience teaching English for academic purposes.
Experience preparing students for IELTS or TOEFL is also welcome.
Applications are welcome worldwide.
What you’ll teach
- Academic reading and writing: working with sources, expressing ideas clearly and structuring an argument.
- Listening and speaking: understanding lectures, taking part in seminars and giving presentations.
- English in the student’s discipline: subject vocabulary and the writing conventions of their field.
Lessons draw on the student’s course materials and language needs. Familiarity with their subject helps make the teaching relevant.
Working with Yoren
We’re expanding our academic services. We’ll contact you when a request matches your expertise and availability.
Sessions last 60 minutes. Students choose from your available time slots. Yoren shares their materials in advance and handles enquiries in Chinese.
Please quote your rate per 60-minute session in your preferred currency. We agree your rate and payment currency before your first session and pay for completed sessions in that currency.

We review your experience and proposed rate. If we agree to work together, we’ll ask for a photo and short bio for your profile on Yoren, so clients can learn about your expertise and choose whom to work with.
